JAAR has launched into autumn with an amazingly busy couple of months.
We started October off with JAAR’s Inaugural ‘Stumps & Thumps Cricket Tournament’ on Saturday 1st October, which despite the weather delaying play in the morning, was a fantastic success.
Special thanks go out to: Kyle Jarvis, Charlotte Edwards (CBE), Lydia Greenway and Sean Ervine and to all the corporate teams: Rathbones, ICECAP, Mekad, Ashburton, AVI Partners, AFM Markets, the Jersey Cricket Squad and Charlie Miles for making it an amazingly successful day.
JAAR were delighted to be chosen by Inglis House at JCG to be one of their two charities for the second year running.
On 20th October we were invited into JCG to talk to Inglis house about JAAR and share statistics and information on rape and sexual assault.
On Saturday 29th October our fantastic volunteers were bag packing at Marks & Spencer in King Street to raise awareness and funds.
The reception we received was amazing and we raised over £400 in four hours.
We dived into November with an appearance at JCG Serves Fair, a fantastic two day event in JCG to introduce Jersey’s younger generation to the many amazing charities the island has and how teenagers can help or get involved, whether now or in the future. The attending schools were: JCG, VCJ, Le Rocquier and Haute Vallee.
We were very impressed by the interest shown and questions asked by all the pupils and we were delighted to come away with a long list of wonderful young people wanting to help JAAR out in the future.
A representative from JAAR attended the Early Intervention Conference at the Radisson Hotel on 10th November, where many agencies came together to try and make a difference to children’s lives between the age of 0 and 2yrs, with the hope that this early intervention will help alleviate a lot of pain, suffering and problems later on in life.
On Sunday 20th November we were delighted to be invited to talk at the annual Samaritans Conference. We were there to highlight the work of JAAR and to advise their volunteers how we deal with a call from a survivor of rape and sexual assault. The event was a wonderful example of charities working together in Jersey.
We are also pleased to announce the date of our Annual JAAR Ball, which will be held at the Pomme d’Or Hotel on Saturday 25th March, More details will follow so watch this space.
