Jersey Action Against Rape is pleased to announce an upcoming specialist training session focused on domestic abuse, delivered by Jeannette Roddy from DACTARI (Domestic Abuse Counselling, Training and Research Innovation) https://www.dactari.co.uk/ 

This training offers an important opportunity for professionals working with survivors of abuse to deepen their understanding of trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to domestic abuse counselling. It will explore best practice in responding to survivors, with a focus on safety, empowerment, and effective therapeutic support.

About the Training

Domestic abuse has complex and long-lasting impact on survivors’ mental health and wellbeing. This session will support practitioners to strengthen their confidence and skills when working with clients who have experienced domestic abuse, including how to:

Recognise and understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and the impact on therapeutic settings

Apply trauma-informed principles when working with clients

Build strong client relationships and respond safely and effectively to disclosures

Support client recovery whilst maintaining professional boundaries and practitioner wellbeing.

About the Trainer

Jeannette Roddy is a highly experienced practitioner, trainer and researcher in the field of domestic abuse counselling. Through her work with DACTARI, she has contributed extensively to research, practice development, and specialist training for professionals supporting survivors of abuse.
