Event Information:
This workshop is essential for professionals working with victims or witnesses of crime, as PTT is relevant to individuals at any stage of their involvement with the criminal justice system, irrespective of whether they have already reported the crime or are considering doing so in the future.
It is imperative that clients fully understand the implications of generic counselling, especially in relation to confidentiality, as client records may be requested or subpoenaed. The PTT Guidance outlines protocols for working with victims and witnesses of crime from the outset to ensure fully informed consent. Even if awareness of criminal justice system involvement comes late, counsellors must adapt their approach accordingly.
The workshop provides comprehensive coverage of topics, including the distinction between Crown Prosecution Service Guidance in England & Wales and the Pre-Trial Therapy Guidance from the Attorney General, Jersey.
While focusing primarily on adults, it also addresses distinctions for children and young people, pre-trial therapy guidelines, and how these principles can inform other legal issues and interactions with clients and stakeholders.
Also included are the recent developments in England & Wales around the Victim’s and Prisoner’s Bill laying down the guidance in law and an official form to request notes to be completed by the OIC/similar and signed off by someone more senior in the police before any request for notes can be made.
The workshop will include:
-An interactive PowerPoint presentation,
-Detailed handouts for note-taking,
-Experiential exercises.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from Jill’s extensive background and breadth of expertise!
